This is a hobby that has gotten out of control. I generally sell decent bikes (not department store junk, or lowest-end stuff), and I generally try to have all the bikes tuned professionally before I put them up for sale. I endeavor to keep prices affordable. I do this in two ways. Firstly, I often buy in bulk from guys who spend their days scrounging yard sales or doing household removals. Secondly, by having an inventory of parts I can complete or fix a partial bike (one that is missing the seat and a wheel for example) for a lot less money than if you took it to a bike shop.
In addition, I work with other guys who sell bikes and are excellent mechanics; if I you have bicycle need, I can generally find someone who can help you out.
