Every so often Blogger sees fit to spontaneously delete certain pages. Unfortunately it happened again to this archive of hundreds of sold bikes. I'm not sure when or if I will restore the page but please feel free to email me questions.

Motobecane Grand Touring
Motobecane touring bike with Vitus tubing

A large early '80s touring bike, ready for heaving commuting of medium-weight touring. A nice, affordable way to get into touring; which is itself, an nice affordable way to take a vacation this summer. Size 61cm, $220

Miyata Trail Runner
1986 Miyata Trail Runner, Top of the Line
I would call this a large mountain bike or a medium-large commuting bike. These early MTB are essentially touring bike with BMX riser handlebars and 26" wheels (like what comes on some of the Surly touring bikes). Aside from the triple chain ring, and cantilever brakes; the frame looks very much like a touring bike frame in terms of stoutness and geometry. The 26" wheels are great for touring and commuting: they accelerate faster, are more shock absorbing, stronger, and can be run at lower pressure (they don't need to be pumped up as often). This is in excellent condition. A rare example of an early mountain bike, that can be used for just about anything. $250

In an interview I asked Grant Petersen of Rivendell/Bridgestone:

What is your all time favorite city bike?
". . .  if you’re asking my own preference, or what I think makes the most functional sense, the most practical sense, I’ll stick out my neck and nominate an all-steel early to late ’80s mountain bike fitted up with a higher and maybe a swept-back handlebar, fenders, rack, and basket. Platform pedals, kickstand, bell, rear view mirror, and some kind of light."

Giant Quasar
Giant Quasar Road Bike

Nice Solid smallish (about 53cm) road bike. Giant was just coming into its own as a brand after manufacturing bikes for other makers for years. $135

 Motobecane Mixte
A classic mixte, made in France but with superior at the time (and still durn good) Japanese components (including ratcheted Suntour Power Shifters). Size is sorta medium $175

Nishiki Cresta GT
A touring bike ready to take you wherever you want to go. Tange 2 cromoly frame and fork, nice high level components, rack, ovalized chainrings, all in great shape. The fork is nice that is has both two sets of braze ones (for rack and fenders) and bosses for mounting a rack higher up on the fork. Size is  medium or what I would call a small 56cm, crank arms are 170mm, standover height is about 33.5"  $300

The fork has both braze ones (for rack and fenders) and bosses for mounting a rack.
